Mia is the only child of Alex and Karyn. She was born in New York City in 2009; the family moved to Plantation, Florida in August 2016, where she’s been growing up ever since. Through her four grandparents she carries Greek, Polish, Haitian, and French-Caribbean threads — Constantine’s Smyrna, Sophie’s Warsaw, Serge’s Boulogne and Léogâne, Toye’s Chassaing-Valcin line. Five generations and three centuries of refugee-and-survival pass through her by direct descent.
She’s a high school student.
