Mireille was born in Port-au-Prince, third of Serge Lebrun and Marie Therese “Toye” Chassaing’s eight children — between her brothers Jacques and Pierre Richard in birth order. The family lived in the Turgeau neighborhood of the city until each of the children, in turn, emigrated. Earlier in her career she worked for UNICEF.
She married Peter Jeannopoulos in Queens on July 6, 1968 — the wedding that joined the Greek-Asia-Minor and French-Caribbean branches of the family. In 1971 she and Peter bought a house at 34-38 92nd Street, Jackson Heights, together with her parents Serge and Toye — the multigenerational Lebrun-Jeannopoulos household. They have since retired to Hollywood, FL.
